COMPETITIONS

General Competition and the VOTY (Video Of  The Year) Competition are open to all financial members.

General competitions are open to visitors as specified in rule C2.10. & C3 

Individual Entrant may submit a maximum of two entries in each category. See C4.3.1

Team Entry: Members can be a member of an unlimited number of different teams. See C2.5, C4.3 & C6.2

ELIGIBILITY FOR COMPETITION

Only videos not previously entered in Wollongong Camera Club competitions are eligible for entry in General Competitions. See C4.13.1

A video can be entered in VOTY Competitions once only. Each VOTY entry must be accompanied by an Entry Form See C4.5.1, C4.13.2 & Appendix B

All accepted General Competition entries are eligible for entry in the VOTY Competition unless they exceed the entry length for VOTY. See C3.2.2 & C4.13.3

COPYRIGHT

Copyright of the entry remains with the entrant.

All entries must comply with Copyright Law, especially music. See C4.8

PERMITTED FORMATS

 All formats that the WCC MM owned equipment  plays  shall be accepted for entry. Currently this includes SVCD, VCD, DVD and an avi file on DataDVD. Some brands of CD & DVD may not play.

One entry per disc, preferably autoplay, ie no menu. It is the Entrants responsibility to check before entering. See C4.6

ENTRY LENGTH

The maximum allowed entry length is 6 minutes unless otherwise specified by the Competition Co-ordinator. Entries may be submitted at any length up to the maximum specified. See C2.6 C3.1.2  & C3.2.2

 Six minutes or less means from the first sound or image to the last sound or image including all titles, credits, music, narration and sound effects, but not including countdown, colour bars or leaders.

Leaders The leader may be of any non-animated (non-moving) texture, pattern or colour. It may contain a countdown and/or index detail such as - Author, Title, and length of video typed in plain text with no pictures or sound otherwise it will be treated as a title or credits and included in the 6 minutes. There should be 2 sec. of black between end of the index or countdown and the start of the video.

CLOSING DATE

 The closing date will be set by the competition co-ordinator and advertised to the meetings at least two months before the closing date. See C4.9.2

 Usually for the Midyear Competition is the June Meeting for entry & judging

 Usually for the VOTY Competition is the November meeting (the first Thursday)

JUDGING

 For General Competition:a judging panel may be formed on the competition night  This panel may comprise all present at the meeting.. See appendix A2 & C5.2

 For VOTY:a panel of between one and three suitably qualified judges external to the Club will be organised by the Competition Co-ordinator. See C5.3 & appendix A1

 ANNUAL AWARDS

OPEN AWARD Highest scoring production from all categories. See C6.4.1.3

VOTY  Highest scoring member’s production from all categories. See C6.4.1.1

Most Improved Producer/Director. See C6.4.1.2

 CATEGORY AWARDS:  Fiction  Discretionary See C6.4.2

 June Club Meeting. All Midyear Comp entries will be screened.

 December Club Meeting.  All VOTY entries will be screened.

Other highly regarded videos may also be screened at the annual presentation night at the discretion of the competition co-ordinator and judge(s), if time permits.
